Russian and Chinese officials to discuss coronavirus pandemic The next major healthcare event organised by the two countries will take place on 26 August 2020. The online meeting will be held to discuss the prospects for co-operation during the coronavirus pandemic.

 The 20th Meeting of the Healthcare Sub-Committee of the Sino-Russian Intergovernmental Committee on Humanitarian Co-Operation will take place on 26 August 2020 in Collegium Hall, Moscow. This will be an online event. The conference is to be addressed by Evgenii Kamkin, Russia’s Deputy Minister of Health, and Zeng Yixin, Vice-Director of China’s Central Healthcare Council.

Several aspects of the current situation with the COVID-19 pandemic will be covered, including how prepared both countries are to control the infection in autumn and winter. The invitees will talk about the monitoring of the medical infrastructure in Russia and China, control of the medical products, the use of IT for medical purposes, and support of maternal and child health. The important questions regarding potential vaccines and drugs against COVID-19 are also on the agenda.

During the conference, the speakers will talk about the prospects of the Association of Sino-Russian Medical Universities (ASRMU) and medical studies within this framework. Professor Andrey Svistunov, Vice-Rector of Sechenov University and Executive Director of ASRMU, and Yang Baofeng, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Co-Chairperson of ASRMU, Professor at Harbin Medical University, will participate in the discussion.

The event aims to promote co-operation through international organisations, such as BRICS, SCO, APEC, and WHO.
