2020 Taiwan-Russia COVID-19 Webinar

2020 Taiwan-Russia COVID-19 Webinar The first 2020 Taiwan-Russia COVID-19 Webinar was held on 23 April. Around 40 infectious disease experts shared their experience, treatment and prevention methods of nosocomial infections. Most of the participating experts and scholars were from Sechenov University and Tri-Service General Hospital (TSGH) of Taiwan (China).
A Memorandum of Understanding between the two institutions was signed in June 2019 in order to share their extensive experience and implement bilateral research projects.
With the help of Prof Song-Jeng Huang, Director of Science and Technology Division at Taipei Representative Office in Moscow and Prof Anatoly Skalny, TSGT and Sechenov University co-hosted a webinar as a platform for comprehensive dialogue on epidemic prevention and medical treatment of COVID-19.
The webinar was chaired by Sechenov Rector Pyotr Glybochko, Vice-Rector for Clinical Activities Viktor Fomin, Head of the Division of Pulmonology Sergey Avdeev, Deputy Head of Science and Technology of Taiwan Dar-Bin Shieh, Head of Taipei Representative Office in Moscow Chung-Yung Keng and Tri-Service General Hospital Superintendent Tsai Chien-Sung.
Rector Pyotr Glybochko delivered a welcome speech, where he spoke about the successful emergency reorganisation of university hospitals for treating COVID-19 patients, as well as the creation of COVID-19 information portal. He also pointed out that over 700 Sechenov doctors, scholars and students volunteered to join fight against COVID-19. Prof Viktor Fomin talked about the role of the university hospitals during COVID-19 pandemic, while Prof Sergey Avdeev shared his experience on treating the coronavirus. The Taiwanese experts delivered speeches about the screening strategies, emergency quarantine for infectious diseases, and methods of SARS-CoV-2 identification.
