"The Pioneers" scientific club meeting

The long way to the Nature Journal. How to reach it sooner?

It is a bad scientist who does not dream of being published in the best of journals. But what can aid in making truly groundbreaking research worthy of Nature or other top scientific journals? How to build an academic career that will not make you feel regret for wasted time? We invite you to discuss these and other questions during "The Pioneers"scientific club meeting which will take place on March 13, 2019 in Moscow.

This time the special guest is going to be Valerian Kagan, a professor at the University of Pittsburgh and Sechenov University. His h-index is 92; he is the author of over 680 articles. Some of them are published in Nature.
Professor Kagan specializes in intercellular communication. Not only does this knowledge allow for predicting metabolic disorders (e.g. diabetes mellitus) and controlling tissue regeneration but it also enables development of novel prevention and treatment strategies in Oncology.
As is customary, the meeting will begin with permanent members giving a speech on the following topics:
“Why is it my dream to get published in Nature?” – Aleksandra Proskura, postgraduate student, Institute for Urology and Reproductive Health.
“Can you be a good physician without publications?” – Daniil Markaryan, head of the Department of Colorectal Oncology, Sechenov University.
“What needs to be done to make Russian science meet international standards?” – Herman Kozyrev, pediatric surgeon, Pediatric Hospital, Sechenov University.
The Pioneers is a unique platform uniting physicians, postgraduates and students alike regardless of their affiliation. Together they discuss topics that are of interest to every researcher. Special guests of these meetings are innovators in medicine, well-known researchers, authors of novel technologies and inventors of new techniques.
The first meeting of The Pioneers took place in October 2018 with Ralph Clayman as the special guest. He founded the Journal of Endourology, authored laparascopic techniques of kidney removal and resection for renal cancer and was one of the inventors of endoscopic surgery for urolithiasis.
The upcoming meeting is scheduled for March 13, 2019. It will take place at 9:30 a.m. in the Pytel Lecture Hall, Institute for Urology and Reproductive Health, Sechenov University.
