Sechenov’s General Medicine programme accredited by ASIIN

Sechenov’s General Medicine programme accredited by ASIIN The influential accreditation agency confirms the compliance of the key study programme with European and international standards.

ASIIN, Accreditation Agency for Study Programmes in Engineering, Informatics, Natural Sciences, and Mathematics, extended the accreditation of the Specialist Degree in General Medicine study programme at Sechenov University. The decision was made on 17 September 2020.

ASIIN is a widely recognised German accreditation agency and consultancy which focuses on STEM — science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The agency evaluates study programmes and courses with the aim to strengthen the quality of academic education and provide transparency of the achieved results.

The accreditation process was launched in 2018 within the framework of the pilot project by ASIIN and the Association of Medical Schools in Europe (AMSE), where Sechenov University has a membership. In April 2019, Sechenov was visited by ASIIN experts — from Hannover Medical School (Germany), Kaiserslautern University of Applied Sciences (Germany), University of Granada (Spain), and University of Turin (Italy). At that point, the study programme received the quality seal until October 2020, however, with certain conditions and recommendations. To comply and extend the accreditation until 2024, Sechenov University has implemented the proposed measures and improved the organisation and content of the educational programme.

The accreditation by AMSE/ASIIN confirms that the study programme complies with the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG) and the Standards of Basic Medical Education of the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME).
