Sechenov University Joins Udine-C Network

Sechenov University Joins Udine-C Network Sechenov’s Department of Nursing has recently become a member of the international Udine-C Network. Udine-C is an informal group which promotes friendship, respect and intellectual exchange with health professionals interested in the development of nursing research, education and practice skills. It was created in Udine (Italy) in November 2007 by Prof. Tony Butterworth (England), Dr. Majda Pajnkihar (Slovenia), Dr. Christine Jackson (England), Prof. Sara Owen (England) and Dr. Alvisa Palese (Italy). At that time, important changes in the Nursing field were taking place with the development of the European Higher Education Area (Bologna Process) allowing nurses in every European country to gain access to third cycle level (doctoral) studies and increase international mobility. These events were relevant for clinical nurses, academic nurses and students, but also, it was a great opportunity to create an informal group of professionals with desire to work together in the development and growth of nursing profession.

Since then, many nurses around the world have joined the Udine-C group. Currently, it has 47 members from 15 countries (Serbia, Croatia, Poland, England, Czech Republic, Barcelona, Italy, Austria, Iceland, Slovenia, Hungary, Ireland, United States of America, Finland, and now Russia), involving 20 Universities around the world.

Udine-C’s annual meetings give its members the opportunity to share experiences, ideas, projects and publications. This year’s meeting will be held at Sechenov University in Moscow on 2-3 April 2020, it is dedicated to the Florence Nightingale’s legacy in nursing education and will highlight innovative learning technologies and their integration into practical healthcare.
