© 2020 Elsevier Ltd Sexting has been defined as sharing sexually suggestive content (i.e., sexts) via Internet or smartphone. To date, only a few studies investigated the role of personality traits in relation to sending or receiving sexts, and most of them used the Five Factor Model of Personality. No studies applied the theoretical model of HEXACO six personality traits (i.e., honesty-humility, emotionality, extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, and openness to experience) when examining different types of sexting (i.e., sending own sexts, risky sexting, sharing sexts from someone else without his/her permission, sexting under pressure). Thus, this is the first study that, using a cross-cultural perspective, investigated HEXACO personality predictors of sexting behaviors considered as a multidimensional construct. A total of 5542 participants from 13 to 30 years old (Mage = 20.36; SDage = 3.67; 60.4% girls and 39.6% boys) from 10 different countries participated in the study. Participants completed the sexting behaviors questionnaire and the HEXACO personality inventory. Four hierarchical regression analyses were conducted to investigate which HEXACO personality traits predicted different sexting behaviors, controlling for country, biological sex, age, sexual identity status, and dating relationship status. Results showed that honesty-humility and conscientiousness were negatively predictive of all investigated sexting behaviors. Emotionality and extraversion were positively related, and agreeableness was negatively related to sending own sexts and risky sexting. Finally, openness to experience was negatively related to sharing sexts from someone else without his/her consent and sexting under pressure. Results have implications for the development and implementation of sexual education and prevention programs aimed towards adolescents and young adults.

© 2020 Elsevier Ltd The purpose of this study is the mechanical characterization of the mid-to- old-age human anterior lens capsules (ALCs) obtained by capsulorhexis using Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) and a nanoindenter at different spatial scales. The dependencies on the human age, presence or absence of pseudoexfoliation syndrome (PEX), and application of trypan blue staining during the surgery were analyzed. The measurements on both the anterior (AS) and epithelial (ES) sides of the ALC were conducted and the effect of cells present on the epithelial side was carefully accounted for. The ES of the ALC had a homogenous distribution of the Young's modulus over the surface as shown by the macroscale mapping with the nanoindenter and local AFM indentations, while the AS was more heterogeneous. Age-related changes were assessed in groups ranging from the mid-age (from 48 years) to old-age (up to 93 years). We found that the ES was always stiffer than the AS, and this difference decreased with age due to a gradual decrease in the Young's modulus of the ES and an increase in the modulus of the AS. No significant changes were found in the mechanical properties of ALCs of PEX patients versus the PEX-free group, as well as in the properties of the ALC with and without trypan blue staining.

© 2019 by the authors. Background: Vitamin D insuffciency is prevalent among athletes, and it can negatively affect physical performance. At the same time, most of the available data were obtained from untrained individuals of various ages, and published studies performed in athletes led to contradictory conclusions. Methods: This cohort prospective study examined the serum concentration of 25-hydroxycalciferol (25(OH)D) and its association with running speed and muscle power in 131 young football players (mean age 15.6 ± 2.4 years). Results: 25(OH)D levels were below reference in 42.8% (serum 25(OH)D <30 ng/mL) and above reference in 30.5% of the participants (serum 25(OH)D 61-130 ng/mL). A comparison of the results of 5, 15, and 30 m sprint tests and the standing long jump test found no statistically significant differences between the two groups. Athletes from the 25(OH)D-insuffcient group were treated with 5000 IU cholecalciferol supplement daily for 60 days. After the treatment, the 25(OH)D concentration increased by 79.2% and was within reference in 84% of the treated athletes (serum 25(OH)D 30-60 ng/mL). Testing was repeated after the end of treatment, and a statistically significant increase in the results of the 5, 15, and 30 m sprint tests was observed (Cohen’s d was 0.46, 0.33, and 0.34, respectively), while the results of the standing long jump test remained unchanged. Body height, body weight, and lean body mass of the football players also increased. Conclusions: These findings indicate that there is likely no correlation between serum levels of 25(OH)D, muscle power, and running speed in young professional football players, and the changes observed post-treatment might have been caused by changes in the anthropometric parameters. During the study, all the anthropometric parameters changed, but the amount of lean body mass only correlated with the results of the 5 m sprint.

© 2019 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. To date, a myriad of strategies has been suggested for targeting the chemical signaling of cancer cells. Also, biomechanical features are gaining much more attention. These features can be used as biomarkers which influence cancer progression. Current approaches on cancer treatment are mainly focused on changing the biochemical signaling of cancer cells, whereas less attention was devoted to their biomechanical properties. Herein, we propose targeting of cancer cell mechanics through the microenvironmental mechanical and chemical cues. As such, we examined the role of substrate stiffness as well as the effect of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) blockade in the cell mechanics. As a mechanical stimulus, stiff and soft polydimethylsiloxane substrates were utilized, while as a chemical stimulus, EGFR blockade was considered. Thus, breast cancer cell lines, MCF7 and MDA-MB-231, were cultured among chemical and mechanical groups. The local elasticity of cancer cells was assessed by atomic force microscopy nanoindentation method. Furthermore, we evaluated the effect of mentioned mechanical and chemical treatments on the morphology, actin cytoskeleton structures, and cancer cell migration abilities. The stiffness and migration ability of cancer cells increased by substrate stiffening while Cetuximab treatment demonstrated an elevation in the elastic modulus of cells followed by a reduction in the migration ability. These findings indicate that cancer cell mechanics is modulated not only by the mechanical cues but also by the chemical ones through EGFR signaling pathway. Overall, our results illustrate that manipulation of cell mechanics allows for the possible modulation of tumor cell migration. © 2019 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The article discusses various mechanisms of developmentt and progression of arterial hypertension in young and middle aged adults. It emphasizes the predominant role of hypersympathicotonia in the development of the disease in this category of patients. Various mechanisms are considered, by means of which the increase of activity of the sympathetic nervous system leads to elevation of arterial pressure and potentiates early damage of target organs, first of all, damage of the heart. The data of numerous studies demonstrating pronounced cardioprotective effects of a highly selective representative of the class of β-blockers bisoprolol in young and middle aged hypertensive patients are presented.

© 2018 Media Sphera Publishing Group. All rights reserved. The relevance of the investigation is due to the need to optimize the system for the primary prevention of drug addiction and use because of its insufficient efficiency in the Russian Federation. This problem is manifested in the low awareness of the population, primarily young people, about the negative consequences of the use of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances and about the high associated risk of their involvement in the use of narcotics, including new types of psychotropic substances (synthetic narcotics). In this connection, the aim of our investigation was to develop a method for determining the potential efficiency of measures for the primary prevention of drug addiction and use, by applying mathematical modeling. The Kermak - McKendrick epidemic model of the susceptible infected removed (SIR) - like type was used as a basis to build a drug use spread model that represented as transition of groups of individuals from one state to another in relation to drug use. This gave rise to a simulation model estimating the magnitude of a drug use reduction in the risk group in relation to the initial one if varying effective preventive measures were implemented. The drug abuse scenario in case of effective measures was analyzed. Enhancing the effectiveness of measures for primary prevention of drug addiction was shown to lead to a stronger rather than linear decline in the size of a group at risk for drug and in the number of drug users. This model may be used to prepare programs, strategies for the primary prevention of drug addiction to evaluate their potential effectiveness.

© JPES. The relevance of the study is explained by the fact that despite the numerous available health-training programs for body weight loss, there is still need for development of new forms of physical training and ways of motivation. The objective of the present study is to evaluate the efficiency of dance therapy for body weight loss and improvement of physiological and functional state in young women with overweight. Materials and Methods. The study enrolled 82 students from Sechenov University with overweight and first-degree obesity. Forty two girls took exercises within individual health-training programs for 9 months. The programs were based on aerobic activity, including dance therapy. Forty students were engaged in physical training within the curriculum of the university. Before, during and after the training course the authors evaluated the components of body composition; functional state and psycho-emotional status. Results. The final tests showed significant excessive body weight loss in students in the main group due to fat mass reduction by 20%; increase of physical performance by 24.5%; self-confidence level growth by 24%. Conclusion: The results of the study confirmed that dance therapy is an effective type of physical training with high motivational component for excessive body weight loss in young women. This fact is proved by significant positive dynamics of the majority of morphofunctional and psychological parameters in students in the main. The materials of the article are of practical value for specialists in physical rehabilitation, general practice doctors, PT tutors and advisors on healthy way of life and public health.
