Sechenov University showcased breakthrough developments in personalized medicine at the large‑scale exhibition of the Healthy Life Forum. Mikhail Murashko, Minister of Health of the Russian Federation; Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population of the Arab Republic of Egypt; and representatives from ministries and agencies of other countries visited the Sechenov University exhibit.

Vadim Tarasov, Vice‑Rector for Technological Development at Sechenov University, briefed the Minister of Health on the projects. Mikhail Murashko highly praised the university’s developments. In particular, he noted the innovative wearable device RITM‑1, designed for long‑term ECG monitoring. This compact, waterproof sensor attaches to the chest and can record heart rhythm for up to 14 days without recharging, significantly increasing the chances of detecting hidden arrhythmias. Data is transmitted to the physician via a mobile app; constant internet connection is not required – syncing a few times a week is sufficient.

The exhibition also featured the manual bioprinter Biogan – a 3D‑pen‑like device for layer‑by‑layer skin restoration directly in the operating room. The technology uses bio‑ink based on the patient’s own cells, opening new prospects for treating deep burns, diabetic ulcers, and chronic wounds. The device is currently undergoing preclinical trials.

Other highlights included:

Gastro One – Russia’s first stationary device for non‑invasive diagnosis of small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO). Developed in collaboration with Lomonosov Moscow State University and the Izhevsk Radio Plant, the analyzer measures hydrogen concentration in exhaled air.

MetaboScan – an innovative system for real‑time metabolomic screening of the body’s state. The technology provides a comprehensive analysis of over 100 metabolites and their ratios, including amino acids, vitamins, nucleotides, organic acids, and other products of energy metabolism. Instrumental analysis is performed using mass spectrometry. The system is already used in clinics and companies for in‑depth diagnostics and risk assessment of diseases and complications.

“The development of MetaboScan makes it possible to bring early diagnosis based on metabolome analysis to a fundamentally new level,” Vadim Tarasov noted. “Although this method is only beginning to be used in clinical settings, it is already receiving positive feedback from physicians.”

HemoTech.AI – a biomedical startup and finalist of Sechenov University’s acceleration program SechenovTech. The project is a portable device for non‑invasive determination of blood biochemical parameters, including glucose, glycated hemoglobin, cholesterol, and several other metabolic markers. The device could become a promising alternative to traditional invasive methods for monitoring blood parameters, particularly for patients with diabetes.

The Healthy Life Forum is organized by the Roscongress Foundation with the support of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation. It traditionally serves as a platform for dialogue between government, science, and business on matters related to increasing healthy life expectancy.
