ASRMU latest: two conferences took place recently

The Russian-Chinese School of Gastroenterology has finished its work. It attracted 30 medical students and young scientists — members of the Association of Sino-Russian Medical Universities (ASRMU). The participants were doing residency at Sechenov University or working at Chinese universities.

The School of Gastroenterology featured several lectures and master classes on various options to diagnose and treat the diseases of the digestive system. Among them were the following topics: ‘Clinical use of endoscopy of the gastrointestinal tract: present and future’, ‘Helicobacter pylori’, ‘Diagnosis and treatment of irritable bowel syndrome’, ‘Diagnosis and treatment of inflammatory bowel disease’, ‘The effect of the intestinal microflora: from basic research to clinical practice’, ‘Diagnosis and treatment of acute upper gastrointestinal bleeding’, and ‘No scars: historical development of endoscopy’. Also, the participants did case studies based on actual clinical work and suggested their best solutions.

Another important event within the ASRMU framework that took place recently was the online Russian-Chinese Forum on Engineering Sciences and Technologies for the Treatment of Socially Significant Diseases. Leading experts from Russia and China presented their latest research in basic medical sciences, clinical medicine, pharmacy, genetics, and public health. Sechenov University was represented by Prof Marina Sekacheva, Director of the Institute of Personalised Oncology and member of the Worldwide Innovative Network (WIN) Consortium. She delivered a talk titled ‘Personalised oncology as a mainstream of the medical care’.

ASRMU is an association created at the initiative of Sechenov University in 2014. Another co-founder is Harbin Medical University. ASRMU helps the leading experts from Russia and China to exchange experience and develop interactions which can be implemented in both countries. The co-operation between medical universities allows Russia and China to develop the agenda for collaboration and implementation of projects related to education, science, advanced medical equipment, and novel medications.

ASRMU regularly organises conferences and workshops to bring together people engaged in various areas of research. Recently, the following events took place: Russian-Chinese conference for young scientists ‘Clinical medicine and pharmacy–2021’; Russian-Chinese Dental Forum; the 1st Russian-Chinese Pharmaceutical Forum; the 8th Russian-Chinese conference on medical microbiology, immunology, and pharmacology ‘COVID-19 and coinfections’; Russian-Chinese forum ‘Scientific conference on combating the COVID-19 pandemic’.
