© 2018 Stolichnaya Izdatelskaya Kompaniya. The metabolic syndrome is a highly prevalent condition associated with increased cardiovascular risk in the population. Microvasculature is the terminal part of the cardiovascular system which primarily reacts to the increased secretion of the pro inflammatory adipokines typical for the metabolic syndrome. Microcirculation and blood cell abnormalities are the leading mechanisms of cardiovascular events development in this condition. Prevalence of microcirculation abnormalities and red blood cell dysfunction in metabolic syndrome and their role in the increased blood viscosity and cardiovascular events development are covered by the paper. The microcirculation abnormalities with a special focus on red blood cell dysfunction (impaired aggregation, stiffness) seen in metabolic syndrome and associated conditions are discussed in detail. The impact of abnormal red blood cell deformability (secondary to cholesterol accumulation in the cellular membranes) on the hemorheological abnormalities is revealed. Abnormal red blood cell surface charge due to proinflammatory changes associated with insulin resistance in diabetes mellitus is highlighted. These abnormalities lead to increased red blood cell aggregation and plasma viscosity that are the essential components of cardiovascular events pathogenesis. Their timely diagnosis is crucial for effective cardiovascular prevention.

© 2018 Stolichnaya Izdatelskaya Kompaniya. Aim. To study the erythrocyte electric charge (EEC) in patients with metabolic syndrome (MS). Material and methods. 112 patients (mean age 61.4±7.2 years) with MS (average duration of MS 8.7±5.2 years) were examined. Control group consisted of healthy volunteers (n=25) of similar age. The level of EEC was detected by the method of adsorption of a positive cationic dye (cationic blue O) on the surface of the erythrocyte plasma membrane up to the complete neutralization of their negative charge, followed by photometry of the solution and calculation of the number of charges on the erythrocyte cell surface. The results of the study were processed by Statistica 10.0 software. Results. Hypertension was found in 73% of patients with MS, hyperglycemia - in 39%, diabetes - in 36%, dyslipidemia - in 80% of patients. The EEC in MS patients (1.59±0.05×107) was lower than this in the control group (1.65±0.03×107; p < 0.05). With MS duration more than 5 years, the EEC was significantly lower in comparison with control group (p < 0.05). In patients with obesity II-III degrees as well as dyslipidemia the EEC values were significantly lower vs control group (p < 0.05). In patients with MS, a significant negative correlation of EEC with total cholesterol (r=-0.51, p < 0.05) and triglycerides (r=-0.51, p < 0.05) levels were revealed. Conclusion. In patients with MS with increase in the MS duration, degree of obesity and lipid metabolism disorders, significantly lower values of EEC were observed..

© 2018 Dynasty Publishing House. All rights reserved. The objective. To determine age-related specificities of microcirculation-tissue systems in children from varied age groups. Patients and methods. We analysed the results of examining healthy children aged 3 to 17 years and also young people under 25 years of age with the use of nail-fold capillaroscopy (n = 65) and laser Doppler flowmetry(n = 50). Results. According to capillaroscopy, no significant differences in microcirculation parameters in children of varied age have been obtained, but as has been found, diameters of all parts of capillaries and the width of perivascular spaces increased to some extent with children's age. Also, the density of first-line capillaries increased with age in the examined patients. The average microcirculation values obtained by LDF did not show any statistically significant difference between children from the age group 7 to 13 years and children aged 13 to 18 years. Microcirculation parameters are not dependent on a patient's age. The average values of PI may be used as reference parameters for diagnosing microcirculation impairments in children with varied pathologies. Conclusion. The capillaroscopy values and basal microcirculation values that we have obtained may be used in practically healthy children for comparison with such values in children with varied pathologies, which might be helpful in diagnosing various diseases and disorders at early stages and exercising control over treatment with selection of individual pharmacotherapy.

It reports the results of primary basal blood flow in partially edentulous bone tissue with atrophy, as well as comparative evaluation of haemomicrocirculation level of the alveolar bone mucosa after bone augmentation via tunneling and conventional methods. The results of the initial state of microcirculation in the mucous membrane of the alveolar process in the partially edentulous area show a 45% decrease of blood flow (M), its intensity (s) by 60%. Microcirculatory shifts in blood flow levels indicators, its intensity, vasomotor activity are more evident when using the conventional method, where revascularization takes more than five months. When using the tunnel method, there is an improvement in haemodynamic mechanisms of tissue blood flow regulation. Microcirculation is restored 4 months after surgery.

© 2018 Silina et al. Aim: The purpose of this study was to examine the role of free radical oxygen and peroxide-lipid processes along with conducting the study of blood flow level and oxygen saturation of facial tissues in patients of different ages with varying degrees of involutional changes in the skin of the face and neck. Materials and methods: One hundred and fifty-three people (84.3% women and 15.7% men) aged from 26 to 78 years with varying degrees of involutional changes in facial skin were examined. The clinical and laboratory evaluation was carried out dynamically and included various indicators of free radical processes, objective and subjective clinical visualization, and laser Doppler flowmetry (LDF) of the facial skin and transcutaneous oximetry (TcpO2) performed at 10 points on the face. To assess the state of free radical processes, the authors investigated the basal indicator of chemiluminescence intensity (ICb), the intensity of chemiluminescence stimulated (ICs) by zymosan, the activity coefficient (AC) of chemiluminescence, antiperoxide activity of plasma, and malondialdehyde (MDA). Results: With aging, the imbalance of the oxygen constituents of free radical processes grows with the increase in ROS. Proportional to age, the ICs increased 2.1 times on average in people older than 55 years compared to that in people younger than 30 years and ICb decreased by 1.8 times. As a result, the AC increased by 5.6 times. This correlates with involuntary skin changes and with regression of microcirculation and TcpO2. According to LDF, it was established that average total blood flow in people younger than 30 years and people older than 55 years was 8.1 and 6.4 mL/min, respectively The difference between the indicators of TcpO2 in people younger than 30 years and people older than 55 years was 1.6 times (average 56 vs 35 mm Hg). The stability of the indicators of the peroxide-lipid link of oxidative stress in different age groups demonstrated that the activation of ROS formation in mitochondria is not a cause but a consequence of microcirculation and metabolic processes in the face and neck and aging in general. Conclusion: The tissue metabolism and microcirculation parameters naturally regress with aging, which is associated with the increase of ROS. The excess of species leads to the intensification of peroxide processes. This, in turn, is reflected in the aesthetic appearance manifested by aging.

© 2018 Nutritec. All rights reserved. Specialized sports nutrition is one of the most important factors in the extension of the functional potential of athletes, providing adaptive resistance to physical stress, which determines the high physical performance and prolongs athletic longevity of the athletes. The study involved 30 skiers-racers (the average age of 19.5±1.8 years). 12 skiers of the main group within 21 days consumed a specialized food product, obtained on the basis of fermented milk whey containing amino acids, several vitamins, minerals and trace elements, live culture of lactic acid bacteria: L. lactis, L. thermophilus, L. bulgaricus (1.2 × 10s CFU/cm3). The control group consisted of 18 skiers, those taking the placebo (food starch of the same consistency). After a course of product intake, blood level of hemoglobin increased by 6%, of leukocytes - by 10% due to an increase in the number of granulocytes by 32%, and segmented neutrophils by 16% (p<0.05), there was a tendency to increase the number of red blood cells by 7% with a significant decrease in lymphocyte count by 19%. Erythrocyte sedimentation rate in blood of the skiers from the comparison group increased by 41% (p<0.05), while in the athletes of the main group it decreased by 16% (p>0.05). After product intake it has been established by the method of laser Dopplerflowmetry that there was a tendency to increase blood perfusion by 15%, a statistically reliable increase in the flux by 53%, which is based on the improvement of the internal mechanisms of microcirculation regulation. According to the mathematical analysis of cardiac rhythm, centralization of regulation decreased while the activity of an autonomous mechanism for controlling the work of the heart increased. The revealed functional changes ensured an increase of absolute (by 31%, p<0.05) and relative (by 33%, p<0.05) physical performance and aerobic endurance of skiers, contributed to the improvement of short-Term memory. The conclusion is made about the expediency of the intake of the specialized food product to enhance the adaptive capacity of athletes under the influence of systematic physical loads.
