© 2021 The aim of this work was to compare mesoporous carriers based on silica and magnesium aluminosilicate in the amorphous solid dispersion production. Darunavir has been selected as an active pharmaceutical ingredient that is classified as a Class 2 BCS substance and exists in two commercially available forms: crystalline ethanolate and amorphous. In the course of the study, the conditions for the preparation of amorphous samples with the selected carriers were evaluated within the framework of the most common methods for obtaining solid dispersions - hot-melt extrusion, solvent wetting, and spray drying. It was determined that the obtained dispersion properties almost completely repeat the properties of the corresponding carriers. The resulting dispersions were examined in a dissolution test and the best ones was used to formulate tablets, which were studied in an in vitro dissolution test with the original Prezista. The proposed tablet formulation showed improved dissolution compared to the original one. It was also found that silica supports have a greater positive contribution to darunavir dissolution - both ethanolate or amorphous forms.

© 2020 Elsevier GmbH Background: The classical anatomical representation of the lingual relief of the mental region of the mandible reflects the presence of geniohyoid as well as genioglossus attachment areas, which are divided into two or single areas. The International Anatomical Terminology (contains references to the presence of upper and lower spinae mentales, but the terminology does not reflect the content of these structures. The aim of this study was to examine and classify the lingual canals of the mental region. Materials and methods: Using a Sirona ORTHOPHOS XG 3D tomograph (isotropic voxel size 0.1 in high-resolution mode) and KaVo 3D eXam cone beam computed tomography, the mental region of the mandible was analyzed in 561 patients aged 18–75 years with regard to bone density and the occurrence of a canal opening on the lingual side of the mandible. In order to visualize the mental spine area, another 50 mandibles were analyzed, divided into two groups of 25 mandibels each: 25 native and 25 dry preparations. Results: By prevalence the following channel types were classified: in 33% type I (narrow); in 32% type II (double) and of these in 17.5% (convergent) and type IIb in 14.5% a type IIb subtype (non-convergent); in 14% type III (wide); in 12% type IV (hook-shaped) and in 9% type V (diverging channel), identifying three combined components: the system of channels of the superior and inferior mental spine, and the transversal intraosseous canal of the mental region of the mandible. Conclusions: Our anatomical and radiological approach allowed us to suggest a new classification of intraosseous organization of the anterior part of the human mandible. As a result of studying X-ray anatomical and anatomical-topographical, constitutional-based, structural features of the mandible, intraosseous structures of the anterior mandible were clarified and classified, which solve not only terminological disputes, but also are important clinical guidelines for bone surgery, prosthetics, traumatology, endodontic treatment, dental implantation and local anesthesia.

© 2020 A series of novel metal complexes of Cu(II), Ni(II), Zn(II), Cd(II), and Mg(II) with four N-heterocyclic derivatives of 2-arylhydrazono-1,3-dicarbonyl compounds were isolated and identified by FT IR, 1H NMR, EPR, and UV–Vis spectroscopy. The crystallographic data for two organic ligands as well as Mg(II) and Ni(II) complexes were obtained. It was indicated that the organic species exist in the form of hydrazo-tautomers. The Ni complex is monomeric and is characterized by the tridentate coordination of the ligand through a deprotonated N-atom of the hydrazo-fragment and two neighboring O-atoms of the carbonyl and deprotonated hydroxy-groups. In the case of the Mg complex the polymeric structure is observed with the additional coordination through the sulfamide group of the organic specie. Formation constants of the complexes in ethanol aqueous solutions were calculated and correlated with some physical characteristics of the metal cations. Structures of yet unstudied metal complexes were proposed based on quantum-chemical modeling at the DFT/B3LYP level.

© 2019 Elsevier B.V. The formation of novel ternary cerium germanide with the chemical composition Ce33.3Ir22.2Ge44.5 (at.%) was established. As derived from powder X-ray diffraction data, the compound crystallizes with two polymorphic modifications. The high-temperature modification, established for as-cast alloy, possesses a tetragonal ThSi2-type structure and can be named as Ce(IrxGe1-x)2, x = 0.32. The low-temperature modification forms in the course of heat treatment at 1073 K, crystallizes with an orthorhombic structure of its own type and can be labeled as Ce3Ir2-xGe4+x, x = 0.02. Both structures belong to the AlB2 structural family and are closely related to each other. In both modifications, statistical mixtures of Ir and Ge atoms occupy same crystallographic sites. As found by means of magnetization measurements, the two structural variants of Ce33.3Ir22.2Ge44.5 (at.%) exhibit very similar magnetic properties. Both polymorphs are Curie-Weiss paramagnets with strong crystalline electric field features observed at low temperatures.

© 2019 The Authors Introduction: Abdominal abscesses are one of the frequent and dangerous postoperative complication. They occur as a result of failure of seams esophagojejunal anastomosis after gastrectomy (17%), perforation of gastric and duodenal ulcers (26.8%), splenectomy (25.4%), failure of biliodigestive anastomoses (23.8%), inadequate drainage of the subphrenic space (22.2%), acute pancreatitis (14%). Left-sided subphrenic abscesses are the most common of them. Case presentation: We present a patient with the left-sided subphrenic abscess, formed as a result of insolvency of the esophagojejunal anastomosis after gastrectomy and splenectomy, which underwent percutaneous drainage under the control of ultrasound and X-ray. Sanitation of the abscess cavity and the introduction of fibrin glue into it made it possible to close the fistula and heal the patient. Discussion: The described case shows that the rehabilitation of the abscess and the injection of fibrin glue into it, made it possible to avoid surgery, eliminate the abscess and close the connection with the esophagojejunal anastomosis in a short time. Conclusion: Percutaneous drainage under the control of ultrasound made it possible to avoid surgery and heal the patient with the left-sided subphrenic abscess in a short time. Fistula treatment with fibrin glue is not only effective, but is also less risky than surgery.

X-ray diffraction is used to determine the structure of a new 3-(benzo[d]oxazole-2-yl)-1-(2-(1,3,3- trimethylindoline-2-ylidene)ethylidene)naphthalene-2(1H)-one zinc chloride complex 1. It is demonstrated that the ligand molecule in complex 1 has a trans–trans–cis conformation in which the indoline nitrogen atom is oriented in the same direction as the chelate ring, which could promote an additional coordination with the complexing atom.

This clinical observation emphasizes the importance of a clear interaction between radiologists and surgeons within the treatment of primary spontaneous pneumothorax. Materials and methods. Patient A, 15 years old, was admitted to the thoracic department of the Faculty Surgery Clinic of the Sechenov University with complaints of dry cough, constant pain, uncomfortable sensations and edema in the left chest half, dyspnoea within physical exercises. Results. Based on the patient's complaints, the history of the present disease, data of subjective and objective investigation methods, the patient was diagnosed with a spontaneous primary left-sided pneumothorax complicated by the growing intermuscular emphysema. Controled by X-ray, the patient's pleural cavity was drained with subsequent air aspiration. Conclusion. The observation confirms the high information value of radiology diagnostic methods: thoracic X-ray and computed tomography. These methods allowed checking the effectiveness of each treatment stage, to diagnose such complication of primary spontaneous pneumothorax-increasing intermuscular emphysema and timely performing adequate surgical treatment.
