“Pathogenesis of alcohol dependence: Molecular mechanisms of the neuron circuits plasticity in drug addiction”

This year last meeting of the Student Pathophysiology Club on the 15th of December was held in English language. The speaker 3d year student Anushree Das presented a report entitiled“Pathogenesis of alcohol dependence: Molecular mechanisms of the neuron circuits plasticity in drug addiction”. Anushree made the audience familiar with the current concepts of alcohol dependence based on the operation of neural circuits that inhibit drinking and circuits that promote alcohol consumption.  The report was met with interest and evoked a series of questions. The instructor of the speaker professor Pirozhkov S.V. made comments on the difficult issues addressed by the report. President of the Pathophysiology Club professor Tsymbal A.A. and the Chief of the Pathophysiology Department professor Litvitskij P.F. concluded that English-language conferences are instrumental in recruiting foreign students to the work of the Club in future.
