QS World University Rankings 2022 include Sechenov University

Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), the British company which focuses on the analysis of higher education institutions worldwide, has published its QS World University Rankings 2022. The list includes Sechenov University which occupies the 24th place among 48 universities from Russia. Globally, Sechenov is rated at positions 651–700.

Previously, Sechenov University was placed on positions 451–500 in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2019: Medicine.

QS World University Rankings are among the most prestigious ones globally. They provide reliable and well-referenced information about universities around the world. One of the main goals of QS World University Rankings is to help students choose the best place to study.

‘Not only have we expanded the presence of Russian universities in the rankings, but also we have immediately shown a good result. Our success is due to the well-structured strategy of the University, including the use of its potential for the development of new areas that are in demand’, said Petr Glybochko, Rector of Sechenov University. ‘Another important indicator of effective work is Sechenov University’s participation in the 5–100 Russian Academic Excellence Project. Thanks to this programme, we have strengthened our competencies related to the newest technologies and innovative solutions. The transformation of the University into a research and education centre, the large-scale integration into the international scientific and education life, and the multidisciplinary approach will further ensure our competitive power in the academic and global education environment’.

The QS World University Rankings 2022 use six indicators to evaluate the universities: academic reputation (40%), employer reputation (10%), faculty/student ratio (20%), citations per faculty (20%), international faculty ratio (5%), international student ratio (5%).

While Russia has 48 entries in this list, some other countries are ahead — including China (58), the UK (90), and the US (177).

The certificates of the QS World University Rankings were awarded to the representatives from Russia’s leading universities on 9 June 2021. The ceremony was hosted by the International News Agency ‘Rossiya Segodnya’.
