The Sechenov University pediatric surgeons took part in the 11th European Pediatric Colorectal Congress in Nijmegen (Netherlands) on December 6-8, 2018.
The Congress organizers were pediatric surgeons from the Radboud University Nijmegen (the Netherlands) and the Center for Colorectal and Pelvic Reconstruction (Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, the USA).
The Congress sessions were devoted to the main problems of diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of children with Hirschsprung's disease and anorectal defects, morphologic diagnosis of aganglionosis, minimally invasive procedures, rehabilitation approaches, as well as complex clinical cases .
Moreover, there’s a unique opportunity to watch live-surgeries performed by Dr. Marc Levitt (Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, the USA) and his colleagues. The serious of theoretical training courses were also supervised by the top pediatric surgeons from Germany, Belgium, the UK and the USA.
The Sechenov University’s pediatric surgeons from the Department of Pediatric Surgery, Urology and Andrology presented three oral reports guided by Prof. Dmitry Morozov.
Ass. Prof. Eugenia Pimenova made the following scientific reports:
- 70 years of Swenson Procedure - the Basic Technology of Treatment of Children with Hirschprung's Disease. Russian Experience;
- Anorectal Malformation in Patient with 46. XY DSD. Uretral Fistula or Cloaca?
- Induced Mesenteric Ischemia and Intestinal Dilatation in Male Rats.
The Sechenov students from School of Excellence in Pediatric Surgery attended the hands-on workshop targeted on young pediatric surgeons and focused on essential surgical skills for the patients with Hirschsprung's Disease and Anorectal Malformations.
