The International Medical Forum “University Science. Innovations”: discussion platform for innovative projects

IMG_3924.jpgOn February 27-28, 2019, Sechenov University hosted the International Medical Forum "University Science. Innovations", which included the final stage of the national competition "Relay race of the University Science" and the scientific conference "Medical Spring", series of lectures on medical science and clinical practice made by top scientists. 


The first Forum Day was opened by Prof. Marina Sekacheva, the Vice-rector for Research of Sechenov University. It was started with the plenary session: Scientific Technologies in Personalized Medicine ("Personalized Oncology as the driving force of scientific thought").
Dr. Marina Nemtsova, head of the Laboratory for Medical Genetics of Sechenov University, presented a report on innovative methods of diagnosis and treatment of tumors, primarily on the study of TCGA (The Cancer Genome Atlas).
The second Forum Day was focused on Applied Bioengineering and Tissue Bioengineering, as research innovative platforms applied by Sechenov University.


Dr. Denis Butnaru, Director of the Biomedical Science & Technology Park, spoke about the possibilities of the Biomedical Park’s research institutions, interest in attracting young scientists, new ideas, projects and opportunities for interaction and cooperation:
"One of the areas that we are actively engaged in is medical research. We attract young scientists with advanced English level and those who published a scientific article in the Scopus indexed journals within the past 2 years. The selected students will take courses in Medical Statistics and Epidemiology in the European universities."


IMG_412081.jpgSumming up the results of the forum, Dr. Marina Sekacheva noted: "Many discussed projects that are among the winners of the competition should be used in medical practice. Moreover, some of these projects have already got patents. Most of them are related to digitalization process of the healthcare system and are designed for clinical practice use".
