The 5th meeting of International Advisory Council at Sechenov University: best practices in medical education

The 5th meeting of the International Advisory Council of Sechenov University dedicated to the 260 Anniversary of the University was held on October 10, 2018.
"International educational practices were chosen to be agenda of this meeting.       I am sure that all presented reports will introduce best practices in medical education,"- noted Prof. Petr V. Glybochko.


Prof. Tatyana M. Litvinova, Vice-rector for Academic Affairs of Sechenov University emphasized that Sechenov University has all conditions and opportunities to support talented students: “We implement scholarship programs for participation in research and academic projects. It helps the University to create a multidisciplinary environment for training doctors of the future.”
Prof. Trevor Gibbs, AMEE Development Officer, identified 6 key requirements for quality medical education: leadership, clear purpose, organizational management, globalization, science support programs, interaction between students and society.
Representatives of foreign universities shared their experience of cooperation with Sechenov University. For example, Prof. Albena Kerekovska, Vice-rector for Academic Affairs of the Medical University of Varna (Bulgaria), stressed that cooperation with Sechenov University has become long-term and prospective. Prof. Tatsuo Ushiki, Executive Vice-President of Niigata University (Japan) told about the medical education system in Japan, identified areas of cooperation with the Sechenov University.
After the meeting the participants visited the institutes and laboratories of the Biomedical Park of Sechenov University. The IAC members met with academic & research staff members of Biomedical Park for discussion of the Univesity’s research strategy.
