Current issues of Otosurgery were discussed at Sechenov University

Sechenov University held the V International Seminar on topical issues of otosurgery & Temporal Bone Dissection course on June 6-8, 2018.

Today ear microsurgery is one of the most complex, high-tech and relevant fields of ENT diseases. It is impossible to imagine its development process without close international cooperation and exchange of experience by surgical schools in different countries. Professor Thomas Tannert, Director of Otorhinolaryngology Clinics of Carl Gustav Carus University (Dresden, Germany) and Dr. Nicholas Lazarashvili attended the seminar among the foreign participants.
The event agenda included lectures, live surgeries, and self-testing of practical skills on the structures of temporal bone.
As for example, Prof. Thomas Tannert and Dr. Nicolas Lazarashvili, and Prof. Isa Mukhamedov (Department for ENT Diseases, Sechenov University) demonstrated live-surgery using various techniques for chronic suppurative otitis media with simultaneously improving hearing stage.  This format allowed the participants to watch live-surgery video in high resolution and to conduct dialogue with the surgeons in real time. The participants had a unique opportunity to compare the Russian and German schools of otosurgery. Much attention was paid to the issues of conservative treatment and pre-operative preparation for patients, modern possibilities of radiation diagnosis of middle ear diseases.

Alongside with the foreign colleagues, some Russian specialists have also gave lectures: Professor Valery Svistushkin (head of the Clinics for ENT diseases, Sechenov University), Professor Galina Nikiforova (Clinics for ENT diseases, Sechenov University) and others.
