On 24 October, members of the 5-100 Project Council are due to visit the Sechenov’s key innovation centres to see the latest research developments created as part of the 5-100 Project.
The 5-100 is an academic excellence project which is aimed at getting at least five Russian universities into the top 100 in world university rankings. The 5-100 Council includes leading Russian and international experts, such as Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Olga Golodets, Minister of Science and Higher Education Mikhail Kotyukov, CEO of the largest Russian bank Sberbank Herman Gref, Founding Director of the Boston College Center for International Higher Education Philip G. Altbach, Chancellor of the University of York Malcolm J. Grant among others.
‘Sechenov University is the only medical school which participates in 5-100 Project. Over the past few years it has transformed into a university of Life Sciences which is aimed at developing interdisciplinary, personalised, technologically advanced and communicative approaches in medicine. The opening of our unique Biomedical Science & Technology Park was the crucial part of the university development roadmap, designed as part of the 5-100 Project. No only has the Park accommodated several interdisciplinary institutes, but it also made our researchers part of a large international group of scientists. We are now developing new fields such as bioengineering, biomaterials and digital medicine. All of it has contributed to a major breakthrough in medical education, which is currently developing the medicine of the future,’ said Rector of Sechenov University Pyotr Glybochko.
