The article discusses a clinical case of necrotizing enterocolitis in a newborn girl with a high risk for intrauterine infection, respiratory distress syndrome, cerebral depression, prematurity grade 2, intrauterine growth restriction. Literature data of the possible risk factors for the development of this disease, causes and mechanisms of its appearance, and also modern treatment options are given.
