Photoredox generation of the trifluoromethyl radical from borate complexes: Via single electron reduction

© 2018 The Royal Society of Chemistry. A method for the generation of the CF3 radical from CF3-substituted borate complexes bearing a pyridine-N-oxide ligand is described. Cleavage of the C-B bond occurs via single electron reduction by a Cu(i) photocatalyst activated by visible light.
