Two specialists from the University of Milan (Italy) – Prof. Silvio Taschieri and Prof. Stefano Corbella gave lectures on dental implants and periodontal surgery ("management of bone and soft tissues in dental implantation and periodontal surgery”) on February 19-20, 2019 at the Sechenov University’s Institute of Dentistry. 

The lectures were organized primarily for the students and staff members of the Departments for Surgical Dentistry, Therapeutic Dentistry, Maxillofacial Surgery, and Prosthetic Dentistry. 
Today dental implant surgery is one of the main areas of focus in dentistry. It helps to restore dentoalveolar system and increase a patient’s quality of life. Nevertheless, it has its own indications and contraindications along with all surgical procedures. One of the problems for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons is lack of soft tissues that can cause the implant to fail. The professors lifted the veil on introduction of long-term outcomes of surgical treatments, how to preserve natural dentition with periodontal surgery, how to substitute one or more teeth with implant surgery.
