Sechenov University is the only Russian medical university included in THE University Ranking of Eurasia Nations. There are 74 universities from 16 countries including Kazakhstan, Iran, Turkey and Azerbaijan, included in the ranking. The universities were ranked in accordance with the following indicators: teaching level, quantity and quality of research results, citation, international cooperation and income from industry activities. The ranking results were announced at the First Eurasia Research Summit hosted by Kazan Federal University on August 29-31, 2018.  
The main goal of the Summit is bringing together heads of institutions of higher education, representatives of government, business, and expert community to discuss problems of higher education and ways to overcome such challenges. The Summit agenda was consisted of topics on higher education as an engine of regional development, investment in higher education as a priority of state policy, global impact of world-class research, and national initiatives of academic excellence.

Professor Andrey A. Svistunov, First Vice-Rector of Sechenov University, noted in his speech that it’s necessary to take into account trends of multidisciplinary, digitalization, use of artificial intelligence, training new generation specialists aimed at building intra-team collaboration and interdisciplinary platform.

The Summit panel reports were also made by the researchers from the best world universities: Prof. Susan Robertson (the University of Cambridge), Sir Malcolm Grant (the University of York), Ellen Hurwitz (the American University in Central Asia).
