As is generally known, on March 18, 2016 Sechenov First MSMU successfully passed the “Roadmap exam” within Project 5-100. The pleasant outcome of the event is the Ministry of Education action grant for implementation of the FMSMU segment of the academic excellence program throughout 2016. We asked to comment on this solid achievement the two key university executives deeply engaged with the Project 5-100 agenda.
The Dean for international students Oleg Glazachev expressed his vision in terms of crucial shifts to come:
“According to the Roadmap, we mean to increase radically the competitiveness of First MSMU educational programs on the global scale. This goal presupposes definitely advanced training performance and extended offering of anglicized programs with respective increase in the number of international students, and moreover the immediate implementation of the “double degree” solutions and the rest. After all, our university graduates should enjoy the highest priority throughout the labor market in Russia and the health sector worldwide”.
Andrei Svistunov, Vice-rector on innovation policy and international activities at First MSMU also didn’t miss the chance to share his foresight:
“I believe that one of the fundamental principles of the First MSMU Roadmap and our brand-new model of higher education establishment is well-defined focusing on certain breakthrough scientific directions. As the matter of fact, the prospective global research agenda is quite forecastable on the level of research trends, as well as products and technologies to be promoted onto the global market. That’s why the smart concentration of our research capacities in terms of both fundamental and applied works is sure to enable dispatching our financial, material and human resources the best way conceivable.
It worth underscoring that human resources policies and investments into the human capital are the core of any institutional reform. Our Roadmap prescribes in this regard the following two backbone approaches – recruiting skilled scientific and pedagogical staff affiliated with the leading global universities and encouraging academic mobility of our own employees through the system of international conferences and internships. This all naturally leads to introduction of best global scientific and educational practices and standards enhancing the overall corporate culture. And I consider our currently establishing International Expert Council as the playmaker in the sense of standards cultivation."
