Малайзия_спорт 02.pngOn the 26th of May 2013 , Malaysian students of First Moscow State Medical University (FMSMU) were involved in the “Spring Sport’s Carnival” which was organized by the newly elected committee members of Sechenov Malaysian Student Association (SMSA). The event was held in Burevestnik Stadium near Metro Sportivnaya. Five different types of sports were organized, namely football, rugby, volleyball, tennis and badminton.Малайзия_спорт 01.png

The main purpose of this carnival was to bring all Malaysian students together through one sports event. Even though it rained and the stadium was wet, the student spirit was vigorous and enthusiastic and they bore through the stormy weather. It was an amazing sight to see students from all academic years united through sports.

The closing ceremony was officiated by Peter Petrovich Ivanov, Vice-Dean for International Students, who  were awarded prizes to  winners of all events. On a side note, this event also took time to appreciate the incredible talents of students who helped carve the university name in the Intervarsity Games. Special awards were given to Qaiyum Ariff for rugby, Syed Mohd Esmat Hussaini for volleyball, and Peter Petrovich was honoured for his contribution to football.Малайзтя_спорт 03.png

In brief, the first Sports Carnival organized by SMSA was a clear success. All Malaysian students are thankful to the Dean’s Office for the undying support that they have given us. We believe that this event is the perfect stepping stone for all future sporting events and will serve as an early preparation for the upcoming Intervarsity Games. With the great student spirit shown today, we will definitely bring back the gold in the Intervarsity Games 2014.

Through sports, we unite!
