Sino-Russian Genome Center will be created at Sechenov University

On January 18, 2019, Sechenov University’s delegation headed by Prof. Petr V. Glybochko, the rector, visited Beijing Institute of Genomics (Shenzhen, China). 


The delegation of Sechenov University visited the Chinese national GeneBank run by BGI that is claimed to be one of the largest organizations of its kind in the world.
During the visit met Prof. Glybochko discussed cooperation opportunities with Dr. Li Ning, Vice-President of BGI. It was agreed to organize testing of the latest models of sequencing equipment, and to launch training courses at Sechenov University. As a result, both parties decided to create Sino-Russian Genome Center based at Sechenov University. 


“Sino-Russian Genome Center will meet challenges of strategies for implementing personalized treatment, development of new prevention methods using big data technologies at cellular and gene levels,"-concluded the University's rector.
