IMG_0087w.jpgOn October 3, 2013 students of I.M. Sechenov First MSMU once again welcomed Dr. Walter B. Kofler (Innsbruck, Austria), Professor of the Department of normal physiology, doctor of medicine.

This time at the Lecture Hall of the Physiological building of the University (11-2 Mokhovaya st.) the renowned Austrian professor gave an open lecture on the subject: "Stress: current state and prospects for future research from the perspective of the theory of “Extended view”.

The lecture, organized by the Dean's Office for international students, and intended for the second year students, however generated considerable interest among senior students due to the multidisciplinary nature of the issue.

Drawing on the example of stress reactions and characteristics of the development of general adaptation syndrome the lecturer unveil the potential of new possibilities for the study of mechanisms of stress-induced disorders and stress-resistance, using basic principles of “Extended view” theory in considering of a human being as an eco-bio-psycho-social entity, gave examples of nocebo and toxicopy effects in the development of stress disorders, showed examples of their development, physiological and psycho-physiological manifestations.

The next lecture of Prof. Kofler as part of “normal physiology discipline” will be delivered on November 21, 2013 and will focus on physiological and psycho-physiological aspects of pain.
