Cooperation with the Medical University of Vienna: consortium for the benefit of patients The delegation from Sechenov University visited Medical University of Vienna on June 5-7, 2017.
During the negotiations leaders of the two universities signed a Cooperation Agreement.
Starting point will be a joint training of graduate students and young researchers, creation of "mirror laboratories" in the breakthrough scientific areas and joint participation in the multi-central clinical trials.

The delegation from Sechenov University visited scientific & clinical departments of Medical University of Vienna, held talks with leading experts of the partner institution.

During a visit to the Centre for Pathophysiology, Infectiology and Immunology (supervisor: Professor Rudolf Valenta, a member of the Sechenov University International Advisory Council) introduced a new method for the diagnosis of Allergy with a special ISAC (Immuno Solid-Phase Allergen Chip), which allows one drop of blood to diagnose reaction by more than 100 allergens that can completely replace allergic skin reactions, was shown. It was agreed to start the unique technology professional training for the staff of the Clinic of Gastroenterology and Hepatology (Sechenov University).
The parties agreed to continue research in portal hypertension and discussed concrete directions of the joint research.

During the meeting both sides reached a preliminary agreement on the establishment of Inter-University Centre of Immunology and Allergology. Two partner institutions also agreed to continue joint research in portal hypertension.

Director of the Institute of Specific Prophylaxis and Tropical Medicine, Prof. W. Schmidt introduced the development of vaccination in the context of personalized medicine and the possibilities of improving its efficiency and security.

The Russian delegation got acquainted with the main directions of scientific cardiology laboratory. 

Serious interest was also aroused by the complex of scientific laboratories of the Cancer Center.

The visit set the ground for collaboration between 2 universities: first results and new directions will be discussed during the visit of the rector of Medical University of Vienna to Sechenov University in 2018.
