AMEE Representative Office of Sechenov University opens its doors to faculty and students

загруженное.pngAssociation for Medical Education in Europe (AMEE) first European Representative Office (based at Sechenov University) held the Open Day for the faculty of Sechenov University on March 12, 2019. 

It was aimed at presentation of the main activities and key results of the AMEE Representative Office which was opened in 2018. Staff members from the Departments of Anatomy, Biology and General Genetics, Pathophysiology, Hospital Therapy №1, Forensic Medicine, Propaedeutics of children's diseases attended the meeting.
Ass. Professor Evgeny Mashkovsky, Director of the Representative Office, told about its mission, international medical education courses, and opportunities for cooperation with the AMEE. Everyone was invited to participate in the next course "Essential Skills in Medical Education" (ESME) scheduled for Autumn 2019.
Assistant Professor Esma Avakyanko, (Department of Faculty Therapy №1) who completed the course in May 2018, made a report on introduction of modern methods of medical education used by the Department, shared her personal experience in improvement of educational workshops for students in accordance with international standards and student-centered learning environment.

Mr. Zalim Balkizov, the official representative of AMEE in Russia, Director of the "GEOTAR-Media" Publishing group, told about international journal Medical Teacher (AMEE International Journal of Education in the Health Sciences), and annual AMEE conferences (the next will be held in Vienna in August 2019).
The next Open Day for the Sechenov students is planned to organize on April 28, 2019.
On April 2-7, 2019, Prof. Trevor Gibbs, AMEE Development Officer, will hold the second course "Essential Skills in Medical Education. Knowledge Assessment" for the participants who have successfully completed the first course.


The opening ceremony of the AMEE first European representative office took place at Sechenov University on May 15, 2018.
