The round table on antimicrobial resistance was held at the British Ambassador's residence in Moscow

On October 23, 2018 the round table on "Interaction between animal and human AMR. Myths and Challenges of Using Antibiotics in Food Producing Animals" was held at the British Ambassador's residence in Moscow.


Sechenov University was represented by Ass. Prof. Elena Budanova (Department for Microbiology, Virology and Immunology). Her participation became possible due to the assistance of the Biomedical Park, Center for Research Career of Sechenov University, and the UK-Russia Young Medics Association.
There is a global problem in Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine associated with emergence and spread of antimicrobial-resistant microorganisms. It’s accompanied by inappropriate antibiotic use practice, use of medicines in veterinary medicine and agriculture to reduce production costs. It increases risk of the diseases that cannot be treated with antimicrobial drugs.
During the meeting the participants specified main cooperation areas in health care for joint solution to the global challenges, and discussed possibilities of solving such problems in Russia.
