The school will be the starting point for the activities of the UK-Russian Association of Young Medics. By starting the activity of the Russian-British Association of Young Medics, Sechenov University together with top UK universities creates an innovative model of medical education.
"Sechenov University is one of the most dynamically developing universities in Russia, which has strong multidisciplinary partnerships with the universities and public professional organizations of the UK in medical education and science. The common scientific and academic space presents us and our British colleagues with similar challenges, which we would solve together,"- emphasized in the welcome speech Prof. Petr V. Glybochko, the University’s rector.
The rector has also paid attention to the fact that the School is held in the year of 260-year anniversary of Sechenov University. Mr. John Lindfield, Advisor and Director for Trade and Investment, and Ms. Marina Sokolova, Senior adviser (Science & Innovation), as the representatives of the British Embassy in Russia were the guests of honor at the opening ceremony. "It’s our pleasure to cooperate with Russia, particularly with Sechenov University. We have already carried out several joint projects. One of the latest projects was the Forum on Digital Health, We believe that it is extremely important to develop bilateral cooperation within the School in Innovative Surgery, as well as within the UK-Russian Association of young medics, which will become a platform for the implementation of such projects." - told Mr. John Lindfield. He also expressed hope that Russian and British students will not only take full advantage of all opportunities of the Summer School, but also get acquainted with the cultures of both countries.
