First international mission of the newly set-up Institute of Linguistics and Intercultural Communication (Sechenov University) to Frankfurt

Meeting the invitation of Europe University Viadrina (Frankfurt, Germany), the newly set-up Institute of Linguistics and Intercultural Communication of Sechenov University gave a master class on Russian Ethnopsycholinguistics to the German university students. As the first international trip of the new Institute, Professor Irina Markovina, director of the Institute, and Istvan Lenart, Associate Professor, gave lectures on the Russian psycholinguistic theories of Verbal Consciousness and Lacuna, on experimental techniques to investigate intercultural communication as well as the problem of cross-cultural understanding. Sechenov University team introduced the English language MA program “Psycholinguistics of Intercultural Communication”. The program started in 2017 and is welcoming its second batch of students from September 2018. The delegation was received by the Department of Pragmatics and Medical Communication headed by Professor Hartmut Schroeder. Together with Professor Igor Panasiuk, who organized the visit, Irina Markovina and Istvan Lenart visited the Department of international educational programs of Europe University Viadrina to discuss the collaboration in student exchange and the potential steps in opening a joint diploma Master Program.
