Season’s greetings from Sechenov University

WhatsApp Image 2020-12-28 at 20.50.46.jpeg2020 has been a challenging year, but Sechenov University believes that 2021 will bring happiness and success. We look forward to having an amazing year ahead!

The year of 2020 is coming to an end, and it is time we said a few words about it.

This year will be remembered for the coronavirus pandemic, which is still ongoing. Medical universities including Sechenov have been at the forefront of the fight against COVID-19. One of the initiatives aimed at remembering this page of our history is to erect a monument commemorating the medics who have become victims of the pandemic. The monument is expected to be on the territory of our campus.

The University has been admitting coronavirus patients to its hospitals, and the doctors have received extraordinary help from our students who volunteered to work with them. Today, we are saying a big ‘thank you’ to all of you. The medics at Sechenov have implemented the most advanced treatment protocols, including clinical testing of prospective medicines and vaccine.

Despite the major changes in everyday life, the University has continued its educational, scientific, and clinical work. Our students and teachers have partially switched to online studies — to prevent them from getting ill. We would like to thank all of you for understanding this situation and for making the most of it — you have gone above and beyond to carry on.

Rector Petr Glybochko, at the final meeting with academic staff on 23 December, expressed his hope that the pandemic would be over in 2021. ‘Despite all the difficulties, we are bound to move on. I thank faculty members, researchers, doctors, nurses, and students — and send you all my greetings and best wishes for New Year’, added Petr Glybochko.

We wish all our staff and students to enjoy the festive days — this well-deserved period of rest and tranquillity that we share with our loved ones, family, and friends. May all your dreams come true, and best of luck for your endeavours in the coming year!
