Sechenov University establishes strategic partnership with Japan On 29-31 January, several members of the Sechenov University governing body, including the First Vice-Rector Andrey Svistunov travelled to Japan to take part in the II Japan-Russia Partnership Conference held at the University of Tsukuba for universities senior staff members, business companies and public authorities. The participants discussed the cooperation between Russia and Japan in the fields of education, science and business.

The Sechenov senior staff members also visited the School of Medicine at Niigata University and met with Dean Toshiyuki Someya to talk about the future of medical education and the role of new technologies in healthcare. The representatives of the two universities discussed the organisation of Russia-Japan medical summer school and the creation of joint platform for strategic partnerships between Russian and Japanese medical schools, as well as academic mobility agreement.

Sechenov University has been a member of the Russia-Japan University Association since 2016. The association was created in order to strengthen and widen academic cooperation between Russian and Japanese universities. One of the results of this cooperation is the creation of Russia-Japan Science Education Centre for Cardiac Imaging at Sechenov University which uses advanced Japanese technologies to treat patients and teach Russian radiologists. Sechenov University also takes part in Russia-Japan Global Medical Exchange Project called G-MedEx Project which includes more than 700 students and young doctors from 27 participating universities.
